Where the appellant has been duly ordered to provide an advance payment and expressly warned of the procedural consequence, failure to pay even during the grace period precludes examination of the merits (consid. 1). In such a case, the Federal Supreme Court may decide in simplified procedure under Art. 108 Abs. 1 lit. a BGG. If no costs are imposed, this must be expressly stated in the dispositive portion.

in die Verfügung vom 16. April 2007, mit welcher der Beschwerdeführer zur Bezahlung eines Kostenvorschusses innert einer Nachfrist bis zum 26. April 2007 verpflichtet wurde, ansonsten auf das Rechtsmittel nicht eingetreten werde,
da der Beschwerdeführer den Vorschuss auch innerhalb der Nachfrist nicht geleistet hat,
in Anwendung von Art. 62 Abs. 3, Art. 65 sowie Art. 66 Abs. 1 BGG und im Verfahren nach Art. 108 Abs. 1 lit. a BGG

erkannt:

Auf die Beschwerde wird nicht eingetreten.
2.
Es werden keine Gerichtskosten erhoben.
3.
Dieses Urteil wird den Parteien, dem Verwaltungsgericht des Kantons Bern, Sozialversicherungsrechtliche Abteilung, dem beco Berner Wirtschaft, Arbeitslosenkasse, und dem Staatssekretariat für Wirtschaft zugestellt.
