RE: The country of origin marking requirements for tools from Taiwan
and Japan.
Dear Ms. Castellanos:
In your letter dated March 14, 1996, you requested a ruling on the country of origin marking requirements for a saw blade and a pruning saw. Your re-submitted samples will be returned to you as requested. They are described as follows:
a) AC 7240 - 13" tree pruning saw blade from Taiwan sold with a card. On this card is the country of origin designation of Japan indicating that the item is being assembled in the U.S. from component parts made in Japan, Mexico, and Taiwan in close proximity to advertising of the U.S. address of Corona, CA.
b) RX 7060 - 10 1/2" folding pruning saw packed from Japan sold in a sealed container with the country of origin appearing on the exterior of the container. This marking is in close proximity to the U.S. address Corona, CA.
The requirements for marking of these items were explained in detail in NY ruling letter 809422 which was issued to you, as you have cited. At
that time, we cited that some of your items were not legally marked. Your submitted samples are now legally marked as to their country of origin.
This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Section 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
A copy of this ruling letter should be attached to the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported. If the documents have been filed without a copy, this ruling should be brought to the attention of the Customs officer handling the transaction.
Sincerely,
