  1. In particular, the registrars shall perform the following tasks:
  2. they maintain the civil register;
  3. they make notifications and provide extracts;
  4. they carry out the preparatory procedure for weddings and conduct the wedding ceremony;
  5. they record declarations as to civil status.
  6. Exceptionally, the Federal Council may entrust a representative of Switzerland abroad with these tasks.
