Combustible radioactive waste may, with the approval of the licensing authority, be incinerated at thermal waste treatment plants in accordance with the Waste Ordinance of 4 December 20151if:
compliance with the clearance limit can be demonstrated by monitoring of activity concentrations or calculation of the possible contamination of incineration residues;
the radioactive waste only contains the radionuclides H-3 or C-14; and
the activity approved for incineration per week does not exceed 1000 times the licensing limit.
2In justified cases, the licensing authority may approve the incineration of combustible radioactive waste containing radionuclides other than those specified in paragraph 1 letter b.
