Foster children are entitled to receive a residence permit and to have their residence permit extended if:
their adoption is planned in Switzerland;
the requirements under civil law for the adoption of foster children are fulfilled; and
their entry for the purpose the adoption was lawful.
If the adoption falls through, the foster children are entitled to an extension of their residence permit and, five years after entry, they are entitled to be granted a settlement permit.
