A claim for damages shall become time-barred three years from the day on which the person suffering damage became aware of the damage, but in any case ten years from the day on which the harmful behaviour occurred or ceased.
If the person who caused the damage has committed a criminal offence through his conduct, the claim for damages shall become time-barred at the earliest when the right to prosecute becomes time-barred. If this no longer applies as a result of a first-instance criminal judgment, the claim shall become time-barred at the earliest three years after notice of the judgment was served.
